Music & Bells
A quiet, beautiful way to end the day: scripture, prayer and music from the heart of the Anglican choral tradition.
Choral Evensong is the Church of England’s evening service, shaped by the Book of Common Prayer and sung by the choir on behalf of everyone present. It gathers psalms, readings, canticles, prayers and hymns into a service of stillness and beauty at the close of the day.
These notes introduce the music for particular services at St John’s, giving a little background to the composers and the works you will hear.
